The first thing we all tend to do when we've just moved in to a new home is to put the kettle and have a reviving cuppa. Flowers have a very similar need.
Here are a few hints and tips for encouraging your flowers to settle in to their new home...
1. Give the stems a quick trim. Cutting roughly 3cm off each stem at a 45 degree angle with a sharp knife will allow the flowers to absorb more water and ensure that they don’t rest flat on the bottom of the vase, which would limit their intake of water. If you cut the stems whilst they are submerged under water, even better!
2. Fill a clean vase roughly 3/4 full with lukewarm water.
3. Add the flower food provided according to the instructions
4. Cut any leaves away from the stems that may fall below the water line then add the flower stems to the water.
5. Spray your flowers with a gentle mist of water daily.
Giving your flowers a nice long drink of water for 12-24 hours after delivery will revive them nicely. If the water gets cloudy or starts to smell simply throw it away and repeat steps 1-3. This will ensure you get the most out of your flowers allowing you to enjoy them for longer.
