In a couple of weeks it will be Easter, yet I remember seeing Easter eggs in the shops as far back as January! A colourful isle display of delectable chocolaty treats is an early promise of spring, even before the first daffodils or tulips have emerged.
For me though, it’s not spring until the daffodils are out, the clocks “spring” forward and the days become lighter. It’s then that the trees start to blossom and the weather tends to improve, mostly (let’s not forget we are still in the UK), and spring has finally arrived, which means Easter is just around the corner! A double Bank Holiday for Good Friday and Easter Monday brings a long weekend and yet another excuse to eat chocolate and cake with friends and family (what’s not to like).
As we all know, spring brings new growth, life and thoughts of summer sun and warmer days, with typical spring flowers dictating the colours of the season; citrus greens, yellows and delicate pinks with a dash of purple - a vivid reflection of the beautiful forms of tulips, daffodils and irises. Aromatic too, florist shops are filled with the glorious scent of hyacinths and freesias, and before you know it, roses are in bud and summer has begun.
Celebrate spring and more importantly Easter with chocolates, sweets and treats for a taste sensation but why not indulge your senses further and bring a bright burst of spring colour and fragrance in to the home with a beautiful bouquet or arrangement of spring flowers?
